Shen Bible Camp - A History

Shen Bible Camp is located on 4-Mile Lake on Alaska's Taylor Highway and is a ministry of Faith Chapel located in Tok. Shen has been staffed by volunteer missionaries from Alaska, the continental United States, and worldwide. It was started in 1978 and was run for a few years at another location before it was relocated to 4-Mile Lake. It has run faithfully every summer except for 2004 when a rash of wildfires spread across the area. The fires burned half way around the lake area but the Lord protected the camp from any damage. The camp consists of several buildings that were salvaged from an old line camp and relocated on the lake in the early 80's. There is a main Cook Shack that is used as a dining hall and for Bible Lessons. There are 6 small cabins for campers, 3 for boys and 3 for girls. There is a large Activity Shack, Director's Cabin, and the Cook's Cabin (s) which were added in 2003 by a missionary group. The camp has averaged approximately 60 campers per year with a high of 97 in 1979 and a low of 35 in 1988. Campers mainly come from local communities, however we have had campers from across the State of Alaska, the continental US, and worldwide. Campers are taught the Word of God through Bible Stories, Bible Studies, Missionary Stories, Devotions, Games, and through HIS love shown by the volunteers.
